We are pleased to welcome Sierra Harris as the new GGWC Coordinator!

The Greater Gallatin Watershed Council’s has recently hired Sierra Harris to serve as Watershed Coordinator. Sierra will be supporting the Gallatin Watershed Council by developing partnerships within the community, providing education and outreach in water resources issues, and coordinating restoration and enhancement projects on our streams and wetlands. GGWC promotes conservation and enhancement of our water resources while supporting the traditions of community, agriculture, and recreation.

2011 Rain Garden Initiative

This summer, two rain gardens will be installed as a part of the

Greater Gallatin Watershed Council’s

Rain Garden Initiative

Students from Sacajawea and Chief Joseph Middle Schools participating in a three week summer program, STReaM (Summer Tutoring for Reading and Math), and 5th grade students from Ophir School will learn about the Gallatin watershed, including water quality, ecosystems, native Montana plants, wildlife habitat, and responsible stewardship of the land and
resources while also helping to build rain gardens at their respective schools. Each rain garden will address stormwater runoff and overland flow at both locations while also teaching students the importance of keeping our water clean and healthy.  To read more, click here to read an article about the initiative published in the summer issue of Mountain Outlaw

Join GGWC at the City Hall Demonstration Rain Garden during the Emerson Cultural Center's Annual Garden Tour!

August 19th - 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  & August 20th - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Learn about rain gardens, their function, and how the rain garden is helping to improve water quality in the Gallatin watershed!
